 It’s All About Me!   It doesn’t matter how wonderful your service is or how much better your product is compared to everyone else’s or if it’s quieter, cheaper, smarter and faster than what I have now.  These things only become important to me when you do one small thing…   It’s the difference between making a sale and not, between being overlooked and getting attention for your business.  It’s the difference between a business that is a success and a failure.   Your business has to capture and keep my attention by answering the all-important question - What is in it for me?   How is your product or service going to make my life better?  How will I benefit?   For example: The TH Turbo 300 is 45% more powerful and 35% faster than any other machine of its kind on the market.  This is telling you the features of a product Ok great, but why do I care about this? The import thing about advertising is the difference between benefits and features. You need to push the benefits to the customer   The TH Turbo 300 is 45% more powerful and 35% faster than any other machine of its kind on the market.   You will get cleaner and fresher carpets in a fraction of the time, leaving you the luxury to spend more time on the things you enjoy.   I don’t know about you but that is much more likely to get me to say, “That’s great, I’ll have one!”   When you work in marketing it is your job to make life as simple as possible for the customer so that all they need to do is decide whether to buy from us or not.   So, whether you are writing an advert for emails, websites, brochures or mail shots, always spell out why I should care and then I might just care enough to buy from you instead of a competitor
